31.12.04
hi
all -
welcome to the first framework playlist of 2005. this is
essentially just a quick note to apologise to those of you who may have
tuned in to catch the repeat of the framework:focus edition
featuring jeph
jerman on
the 22nd of december. it has
been brought to my attention that the wrong edition was aired (although
hopefully you enjoyed having another chance to catch the chris watson
show!), but to make it up to you, we will be repeating the jerman
edition at a special time this friday:
framework:focus
featuring the work of jeph jerman,
will be repeated this friday, the 14th of january, at 4:30pm
gmt
(check the
time zone converter
above for local times).
friday is also the
date of our first live
broadcast of 2005, at its normal time of 8:30pm
gmt
. our
last two shows, in the 24th and the 31st on december, respectively,
featured repeats of some special features we had over 2004, mostly live
on-air performances, and a few framework exclusive compositions. more details, and
originally airing dates, below.

this
edition of framework:focus featured the work of jeph jerman
- we
sampled field recordings and compositions he has made over the years
(both under his own name and as hands to) using typically
inexpensive tape recorders and mics, giving his body of work a
characteristic grainy, earthy sound. this mixed with commentary
and observation he recorded himself, on his work, sound in general,
inspirations and anecdotes (we want a t-shirt with an anatomical
drawing of an ear too)... we think this is one of the best
editions of framework:focus we've had the pleasure to produce yet, so
if you missed it, it's highly recommended you try to catch wednesday's
repeat (at 11am gmt).
for more information
on jeph and his work, or
to order any of his recordings (all of which he has made available on
cdr for order direct from him) see his website - and soon, as it is
rumored that the anomalous records site won't be available much
longer - at http://www.anomalousrecords.com/jerman.
our
next two
shows - on xmas eve and new year's eve - will comprise a two-part look
back at some of framework's special programming over the year,
featuring rebroadcasts of live on-air performances or framework
exclusive works from marc behrens, michael northam, loren
chasse and murmer (that's me!) on xmas eve, and justin
bennett, keith berry and achim wollscheid on new
year's eve.

a
long playlist
of shortish tracks for this edition, including 15 or so from one of ground
fault's latest releases, dave phillips' IIIII.
the glue that held this show
together was an
amazing document by american seismologist karl v. steinbrugge,
a series of recordings of earthquakes from 50's and 60's
america
(north and
south). the wonderful thing about
this document is the contexts in which we find ourselves - the
situations in which the tape was already rolling: the school recital,
the tapped telephone call, the concert, and the taping of vinyl. it's not the earthquake that matters, but where
it finds itself.
between
these
cracks we heard sounds from bj nilsen (previously hazard)
with
his
latest,
and
best,
effort
on
touch, a look at an
interesting new project on the local sijis label, and a listen
to an old favorite, the first illusion of safety
record i ever heard, 1993's water seeks it's own level.
this was all kicked off with a
great intro
recorded in the dark room of rachael jackson
, whose photos undoubtedly grace many
listener's cd collections...
our
next
edition, coming up this friday, is the next instalment of the framework:focus
series, this time featuring the incredible work of jeph jerman
(previously known as hands to). listen in for a
chorus of scraping and crackling, and the best under-bridge recording
i've ever heard.

26.11.04
another
standard edition framework this week, featuring another dip into our
ever growing pile - this time several tracks from the paris-based kokeko
organisation, some more new material from john hudak (this time
playing live with jason kahn), and a piece composed from sounds
recorded inside a mobile phone recycling center (no, i didn't know they
existed either). we also finally had a listen to an old, old
favorite that's been in the pile for ages, in the form of g*park's
1995
album
geopod, which was intertwined for the last 20
minutes or so with a mix of several new field recordings by another old
favorite, jeph jerman.
on
that note, i
can also now announce that the next edition of framework:focus,
on the 19th of december, will feature jeph and his huge body of work
over the years, from the days of hands to through to recent
sound and installation works, and his own exclusive insights and
commentary. it should prove to be a great addition to the series!
lastly,
it's
time once again to make my semi-regular plea: i am once again nearly
out of intro recordings - in fact, if it weren't for one
industrious listener (thanks keith!) who's sent me no less than five
intros in the recent past, i would have run out ages ago. so, if
you've been waiting for your moment or putting off the inevitable,
now's the time - please see the guidelines below the list, and please
record a framework introduction! i will use every eligible one i
receive!

this
was
another edition of framework:focus, this one concentrating on marc
behrens' architectural commentaries series - these
are a series of compositions based on physical spaces, and constructed
from a large archive of field recordings of buildings, building sites,
subways and stations, and the infrastructures from which they are
formed. along with marc's own commentary on the works, we heard
sounds from the 5 commentaries that have been composed to date, a
sampling of the original sound sources, and a few moments of an earlier
related sound work, location recordings, from the 1995 trente
oiseaux release advanced environmental control.
architectural commentaries 5, subtitled some
models
for
resonant
behaviour, was commissioned by framework
for resonancefm, and was composed entirely recordings taken inside the
resonancefm studios themselves. it, along with part IV, are
scheduled to be released together next year on the american label edition...

working
our way
through our pile of sounds, we concentrated on multiple tracks from
just a few discs in this edition, taking in several works from the
excellent maurice blanchot dedicated compilation on sirr-ecords,
me noli legere, and discovering what the two
discs of marc behrens and francisco lopez's
collaborative

together. we also sampled another of james dunn's
vlf recordings, the brume/tbc half of their split with mnortham
(we listened to mnortham's half last time), and new sounds from vitor
joaquim.
our
next
edition, coming up this friday, is the next in our framework:focus series,
focusing
this
time
on
marc behrens' architectural commentaries
series of compositions - we will
be
exploring the compositions, their source recordings, and getting some
insight into them from the artist himself. the broadcast will
finish with the world premiere of architectural commentaries 5
(some models for resonant behaviour), composed entirely from
sounds of the resonancefm studios themselves!

29.10.04
our
first
return to our standard format broadcast brought us a first delving into
the pile of sounds that have backing up over the past several months
while we've been working on the framework:focus shows - we listened to
several tracks for the exquisite new cd by john hudak and stephan
mathieu on sirr|ecords - in fact, with two copies of the
album, we blended several of the tracks together to create a denser
compressed version. this weaved in and out of recent work by mnortham
from a split cdr that also features a collaboration between tbc
and brume (we'll hear sounds form that portion of the disc next
time), documentation of wind sculptures by french artists eric
cordier and denis tricot, vlf recordings on homemade
equipment by james dunn, and overseas sounds by quiet
american and american sounds (all recorded in savannah, georgia) by
local (to this island, anyway) mark vernon.
our
next
edition will be another standard format framework, getting us a bit
deeper into the pile, after which, on the 19th of this month, we will
have our next edition of framework:focus, featuring the architectural
commentaries of marc behrens, and culminating in a
framework commissioned commentary featuring the architecture of the
resonancefm studio itself!
again,
we are
always looking for material for the show, whether raw field recordings,
field recording based composition or introduction submissions.
send material, released or not, on any format, to the address
below. we are also hoping
to have live performances as often as possible, so if you are in or
passing through london
please get in touch!

this
was our
second edition of our new feature program framework:focus, this
one focusing on the work of chris watson, raw field recording
and compositional "time compression" featured over three releases for
the touch record label, as well as a recent schools project
initiated by FACT (the foundation for art and creative
technology) in liverpool. wildtracks:24 was led by watson
as 6 VI formers from croxteth school in liverpool explored the
possibilities of environmental recording as each composed their own
piece using free software based on their recordings. in this
edition we hear the students introducing their own pieces, while watson
talks us through the project and takes us through his history from his
favorite spot on the beach at druridge bay in northumberland.
for any more info on
chris watson, his work,
or releases, see his website at http://www.chriswatson.net.
for more information about
FACT's projects
and programs, see their website at http://www.fact.co.uk.
our
next
edition of framework:focus airs on the 19th of november, and
features german sound artist marc behrens and his architectural
commentaries series. we return this friday, the 29th of
october, and two weeks later on the 12th of november in our usual
framework format with stacks of new arrivals for your
listening pleasure!

will be the debut of our new format, framework:focus, which
will alternate with our normal framework broadcasts for the remainder
of this year. each edition of framework:focus will be
centered on a single artist, project, or theme, mixing recording,
composition, readings and interviews into a single sound piece.

focuses on the radiophonic
works of eric la casa, long time phonographer, composer and
radio artist based in paris, france
. in
this edition we listen to excerpts from three of his radio works: two
collaborations with another regular framework contributor, jean-luc
guionnet, alerte au detour de rien (an extract from
a radio essay on background noise), and effets de silence (extracted
from
the
wind-themed
program
vents sur ecoute). the
third is a radio portrait of serbian artist arsenije
jovanovic entitled l'inspir du rivage, topographie sonore
d'un isolement: a. jovanovic (inhalation of the shore, a sonic
topography of an isolation: a. jovanovic). for
any more information on la casa and his work, you can see his website
at http://ascendre.free.fr.

our
next
edition, the 8th of october, will be the first in our new series
of broadcasts tentatively entitled framework:focus (alternate
title suggestions welcome!) which will alternate with our normal
framework broadcasts for the duration of our new scheduling.
starting on the 8th we will be on air at our normal hour every
friday except the first one of each month (when peter cusack
airs his environmental recording program vermillion sound).
we
will
be
using
this
series
differently
from
our normal broadcasts,
with more themed and documentary broadcasts. initial editions
will focus on chris watson and his schools project wildtracks,
and
on
the
radiophonic
works
of
eric la casa. more info
on these experiments to follow in the coming weeks!
this edition was held
together thematically by
a series of recordings of hurricane charley's descent onto
florida earlier this
year made
by regular contributor mike shannon
. these
recordings were the glue that held together a collage of other sounds
by the likes of pawel grabowski, tbc, john
kannenberg and james wyness. there
were many unexpected pleasures, including pawel's recent drone
records release, and james' exquisite forest silence...

20.08.04
this
is our
first playlist in quite awhile. so let me explain: our last show
was on the 20th of august. it's normally scheduled repeat would
have been the following wednesday, the 25th, but did not air due to
special programming that week. what would have been our next
normally scheduled live show, the 3rd of september, also did not air
due to special programming. tomorrow, the 8th, is the normal slot
for the repeat of the show that did not air, the 3rd, but as there is
no show to repeat from the 3rd and as the show from the 20th never got
repeated, tomorrow we get a chance to air the repeat from our live show
on the 20th, for which you will find the playlist below.
whew.
did
that make any sense? it was quite a lot of fun to write...
this
edition
featured several longer pieces and consisted almost entirely of
unreleased work: new composition from toy.bizarre, mark
schreiber, and steve peters, among others. our next
live show, on the 17th, will be our first in almost a month, so expect
some exciting material. i can also now announce that starting in
october, and running until at least the new year, framework will be
extending its boundaries to include every friday night bar the first
friday of each month, which will remain peter cusack's excellent
vermillion sounds show. will we will be using this extra time a
bit differently, aiming to air more live material, or single artist
commissions and focuses. more details forthcoming...

we
started off
this edition with a classic recording that's been in our 'to play' pile
for a very, very long time, michael prime's opening to his 1996
disc cellular radar, finis terra. this
led us through several new releases on helen scarsdale
and the reappeared
kaon, one unreleased work, and one new to me (87 central's
2001 cd formation. bruno moreigne's kaon disc, locus
niger, is an interesting exercise in minimal sourcing - his heavily
treated works from virtually silent ambient geographical recordings
(ranging from sources such as tien anmen square to the world
trade centre pre-9/11, to various historical sites throughout the
french countryside) led me to believe before reading the liner notes
that the disc might be entirely comprised of synthetic sound. post-reading, however, the traces of weather
patterns, bird and insect song, etc, do begin to reveal themselves...
coming
up in
the near future: framework will be featuring a segment over several
shows spotlighting compositions by some young artists learning about
field recording and it's expressive possibilities on a course with the
great chris watson. we will also soon be featuring an
exclusive composition by m. behrens made with sounds of the
resonancefm studios themselves.
lastly a plug for a
great radio project: phonographic
migrations 3: soundscapeFM is up and running now, broadcasting on
the net and on 94.6 fm in straslund, germany

23.07.04
this
edition
featured a new long piece by jonathan coleclough, a resampling
of seth nehil's edition... release, and two
collections of shorter pieces. the
first was a set of short untreated recordings by scott smallwood
documenting an amazing sonic phenomenon of princeton, new
jersey : once every seventeen
years precisely, princeton becomes infested with cicadas, large and
more importantly loud insects somewhere between a locust and a
cricket. scott has made a series of
recordings from all sorts of different indoor and outdoor locations in
various situations documenting their all-pervasiveness. you can find writings, images and all the sounds
themselves on his website (see the playlist below).
the second set of
recordings was
a selection of compositions from a 2cd compilation released by a
venue in hamburg
germany
called the hörbar.
the hörbar is a collective of artists and enthusiasts who gather
weekly in a space they share with an alternative cinema (b-movie) to
listen to a few records and have a few beers (or, better still, a few
club-mate's - http://www.club-mate.de/).

haven't encountered very many artists in this field who haven't at one
time or another been invited to join them. they are a great
bunch a people running a great venue, and they've now released this
double cd of contributions by the organisers and a few friends, all
composed with a set of recordings taken on a river boat on the elbe by asmus
tietchens (part of the collective), and a recording inside the
quiet empty performance space which was taken for a performance by
the hafler trio. if you're
passing through hamburg

you
may (or
most likely may not) have noticed that this is our first playlist in
four weeks. this is for the simple
reason that our last edition was dedicated in its entirety to a series
of events in london
entitled the nearness of doing
that be things, performed and curated by the hafler trio.
h3o gave us an hour of exclusive
material,
which was broadcast with a short framework introduction, on
25.06.04. this week was, therefore,
our first show for a month! luckily
we managed to remember which buttons to push...
we were also treated
to a special short
notice visit: this week's edition featured a live appearance by michael
northam and loren chasse (even he, we discovered, isn't
quite sure how to pronounce his name), who were passing through
london and agreed to
come in
and see us. michael and loren
performed a live room mix of field recordings, electronics, and objects
with the aid of ben green, maria de la paz sayago-candil,
and
me.
as this all happened very
short notice, i obviously wasn't able to warn you. but don't fret
- if you missed the show but want to check out this performance, you
still have time to catch the repeat this wednesday (tomorrow) at 11am
bst (see below for time zone converter)!
michael
and
loren's performance was preceded by new and old material, including a
framework intro, by jeph jerman (previously known as hands
to), a new edition... release by m. behrens (who is
currently working on an exclusive piece for framework using recordings
of the resonancefm studio itself), and a new work by janek schaefer.

was held together by a skeleton of recordings by new artist part of
me: apparatus. he sent us a

firstly
let me
apologise for the lateness of this playlist. i try to get them
out before the repeat airing (the wednesday after the live broadcast)
for the benefit of those whose interest is piqued enough by my
oh-so-in-depth description to tune in, but i left town immediately
after our last edition and have just returned. which means, of
course, that our next live show is this coming friday...
our
last show
began with a special introduction recorded by mike hallenbeck
in celebration of our fiftieth edition. we started
broadcasting shortly after resonancefm went on the air in the summer of
2002 and have been proudly watching support for the station grow ever
since. resonance is now applying for
it's five year license - go to our website to see how you can support
our efforts further: http://www.resonancefm.com.
here's
to
fifty
more
shows!
mike's
intro
was followed by a long track from the fine, fine first solo release by jgrzinich,
long
time
collaborator
of
the
likes
of
mnortham
and seth nehil.
his first cd, on cmr, is a delicate mix of natural and
electronic sound, evoking an extremely personal description of both
physical and mental space; highly recommended. this was followed
by more improvised work by our friend pawel grabowski, a
sampling of work by last edition's intro contributor, thanos
chrysakis, and also work by philip blackburn and heribert
friedl. we finished this edition with a mix of the extremely
composed electro-acoustic work of lionel marchetti and a track
or extremely raw wineglass generated tones by an_polarity.
plans
for the
near future: this friday will feature, among other things, some
material from the new australian label naturestrip, and coming
in the next few weeks will be some exclusive material from m.behrens.
finally, two shows from now, the
25th of
june, framework will be participating in a week of events here in
london (including
concerts,
films, installations, lectures, meals and radio broadcasts) by the
great hafler trio. the show
(and others that week on resonancefm) will be dedicated entirely to
specially produced material, tying in with all the other events. please see the h3o website for more info:

first
off i'd
like to wish resonancefm a happy second birthday!
we began broadcasting on the 1st of may, 2002, and are now busy
applying for our 5 year license. this has only been possible
thanks to the support and help we have been given by you, our
listeners. thank you! resonance
will be hosting it's second birthday party on may 15th here in
london ; please come
along! more info is available on the
website: http://www.resonancefm.com.
there you can also find more
info on ways
you can support our efforts and keep the station going strong.
this
week we
featured a new double cd release entitled construction sonor,
new works by tore honore boe and christian h. sotemann,
and a multi perspective sound sculpture improvisation by dallas
simpson, viv corringham and derek shiel.
construction
sonor is a project
initiated by pro helvetia using field recordings taken by swiss
artist bernd schurer along the rail network and rail
construction sites connecting the northern and southern swiss
alps. these incredible recordings, which make up the first of
these two discs, were then passed on to a collection of artists living
and working along the same routes - their compositions make up the
second disc. we listened to a mix of a handful of the
compositions on the constant bed of schurer's powerful original
recordings.
we
then coupled
two new environmental collages in tore honore boe's follow-up
to his earlier siesta release, suave, with three
different perspectives on one extremely minimal composition by german
artist christian h. sotemann. the composition exists as
two individual strikes of a single note on a guitar with a
brief four bar pause between them, finishing as long after the
second strike as the performer deems fit. the cd comprises six
versions of the piece recorded in different locations: the first three
in recording and rehearsal studios, and the second, more interestingly
for us, in various field locations.
tonight's show
finished with another series of
perspectives: a sound improvisation performed and recorded by
dallas
simpson and viv corringham
around a sound
sculpture created by derek shiel. i
was provided with three binaural recordings of the same performance,
one from dallas '
perspective, one from viv's, and one
from a fixed point dummy head located nearby. with
the three recordings synchronised, we heard a pattern of crossfades and
multiplications of the entire piece.
lastly,
in
keeping with our current series of landmark dates, our next edition
will be framework's 50th show! if anyone would like to
record a special anniversary introduction i leave it to your
discretion, artistic license granted!

i must
correct an error in the last playlist: i listed the first
piece (after the introduction) as the phonographer's union.
in fact, gary
james of molotov arc's

strange synthetic sounding hum, complete with various collisions.

also explored several new releases on the very active anomalous

our next edition we'll be featuring, among other recordings, recent

this
edition
was meant to feature a live performance by dublin-based polish sound
artist pawel grabowski. unfortunately
he wasn't able to make the journey to london
this time, so we had to postpone - we'll
let you know when we can get his set rescheduled. this did,
however, give us a chance to start catching up on the backlog of
material we've got at the moment, including the phonographer's union
cd made from their live session on sonarchy radio, recent releases from
the ever-expanding catalogue of free mp3 label stasisfield, and
a look at the amazing environmental sound works of david dunn
from the 70's and 80's as documented on the double cd retrospective music,
language
and
environment on innova recordings. we finished off the show with another track from
an innova disc: stilling time is an collection of
traditional vietnamese music as recorded in the field by philip
blackburn. this is an
amazing disc of extremely beautiful recordings, and, while we tend
not to play captures of musical performance on the show, i couldn't let
this one go by without a nod. in any
case, the disc's last track is a collage of sounds captured around
hanoi , a bit more
fitting to
our format, and it gave me the opportunity to give it a high
recommendation.

a very special edition
this week in
conjunction with the visit of several sound artists to london
. justin
bennett and achim wollscheid - who gave presentations last
week at the architectural association, along with atau tanaka
and hosted by brandon

exclusive piece for framework and achim with a live performance in the
resonancefm studio. but wait, there's
more! we also featured a framework
exclusive track by tore honore boe, whose gave us an intro as
well, and recordings by james dunn and an_polarity.
our series of live performances
continues in
our next edition, with a visit from polish dublin-resident pawel
grabowski, who we first featured after his performance here in
london last fall at the

this edition followed
a clearspot hosted by
filmmaker william english, who presented 90 minutes of
untreated field recordings he made in dorset
last year. william
presented me with the material from the clearspot and asked me to
compose a response to it as a way to tie the two programs together, and
this, after an intro also recorded for us by william, is how we began
the show. this was followed by an exploration of the void/full
compilation on the greek antifrost label, as well as a mix of
tracks from the recent split cd by sumugan sivanesan and duran
vasquez with some untreated recordings taken in latvia by derek
holzer, and some recent sounds by jim haynes (both solo and
in his duo with loren chasse, coelacanth) and michael
trommer.

this
edition
featured a great live set from keith berry, presenting material
from a new work entitled buddha's mile. much denser
material than what we know from the golden boat, his recent release on
trente oiseaux, reminding us at times of some of the work of
morphogenesis, or particularly michael prime's mycoplasma. keith was generous enough to bring us a copy of
the golden boat to give to a listener; it was won by colin lane of
london
- congrats!
keith set was preceded
by two tracks from michael
rusenberg's new cd, constructed from sounds recorded just outside
paris in la
defense. the
cd
features rusenberg's own composition along
with several remixes from the original source material; we heard one of
michael movements and a remix by eric la casa. we also listened to some recent unreleased works
by french artist yannick dauby; more to come from him soon!
coming plans:
our next edition will be
preceded in the clearspot slot (every weekday 7-8:30pm
) by a presentation of field
recordings taken by filmmaker william english in dorset
. the
are untreated and collaged without commentary for a full hour and a
half, and are beautifully contemplative (i'm listening to them right
now, in fact); i highly recommend you tune in for that if you
can. our broadcast will then begin
with a framework intro recorded for us by william, followed by a
composition of my own in response to and constructed from william's dorset
recordings. the following edition,
on the 5th of march, will hopefully be featuring some exclusive
material given to us by justin bennett, (who will be in town
for a concert at the aa with achim wollscheid on the 3rd - more
info on that next time), and on the 19th of march we will be featuring
a live performance by polish sound artist pawel grabowski, so a
full calendar for the coming months!

first
off, i
have a correction to make from the last playlist: i listed zephyr,
from

compilation
spire: organ works past, present

fact, the piece was performed by charles matthews, one of
england
's premiere

bjnilsen at st mary's church, warwick
, on march 6th, 2003. my
apologies
for the error...
in this edition we
featured new releases
from the u.s.
label ground fault recordings. ground
fault has now released
upwards of 30
cds, organised (loosely) into three categories: quiet, medium, and
loud. field recordings tend to come
under the quiet category, although many of these are certainly far from
what i (or, say, bernhard guenter) would call quiet. we've
featured many of these category I releases on framework in the past (crawl
unit,
afflux,
erics
cordier
and la casa, jean-luc guionnet...),
and this time featured two of the cds from ground fault's latest batch:
one by joel stern & michael northam, and the other by murmer
(my own project). the
first
copies of both of these releases came with a 3" cdr of extra works, and
we featured sounds from these as well.
the
rest of the
show was taken up with several new co-releases between ground fault and
their close associates auscultare research. we heard
pieces by joe colley (another excellent cd from another long
time framework favorite), r.h.y. yau, and a collaboration
between daniel menche & kiyoshi mizutani. all in
all an excellent season for these two labels...
our
next
edition will feature work by michael rusenberg and a live
performance by trente oiseaux recording artist keith berry.

last thing:
i now, at long last, have the remaining copies of the framework
2003 resonancefm benefit cd. those of you who have reserved
copies will be hearing from me in the next few days to sort out
details. anyone else who wants a copy please get in touch!
here is the playlist again; the pieces are all excerpts and mixed from
the original broadcasts into one long soundscape. oh, and those
of you who appear on the cd, don't worry, i have your copies as well,
and they will be going out this weekend.

welcome
to our
first playlist of 2004 (and our last playlist of 2003 - holiday travel
made it impossible to get the last one out on time, my
apologies)! there are already some good plans shaping up for the
coming year, starting with some upcoming live appearances: on the 6th
of
february we are pleased to announce a live set by trente
oiseaux recording artist keith berry! we featured his
brilliant release the golden boat not long ago, and are
therefore very excited that he's agreed to come along. we will
also be hosting a visit from dublin-based pawel grabowski on
the 19th of march. pawel's
improvised field recording work was also recently featured on the show,
and he was here in london
not long ago for a gig at the red rose
with troum, dual, id, and my own project, murmer.
we will hopefully have his new
release on
the air shortly as well...
our
last show
of 2003 was a special focus on the italian cdr label s'agita
recordings. they have consistently impressed us with the
quality of work they've put out, often by unknown (al least to me)
artists, and they are definitely worth checking out. s'agita is run by the two members of long-time
framework favorites logoplasm, and has an extensive
backcatalogue here: http://sagitarecordings.vze.com.
we
featured
several
of
their
new
releases,
and
a few old favorites, in
a continual hour long mix.
our
first show
of 2004 was partly dedicated to the organ in all it's piping
glory. we played three framework-relevant tracks from the great
new 2cd compilation, spire, on touch records,
consisting entirely of music either written for or inspired by the
organ. i also included one of my own
recordings from a recent trip to aarhus, denmark
, where i and
a few friends were treated to a private organ demonstration and concert
in a church on the outskirts of town by a welshman we found in the
street. i'm not entirely sure how it
happened, but it was amazing.
we also featured
multiple tracks from great
new releases by paulo raposo (of sirr.ecords) &
carlos santos
, and justin bennet, along
with repeat appearances by roel meelkop and sam britton.
as always, if you missed this
show you have
a second chance to hear it: the repeat airs this wednesday at 11am
gmt .
one last note: if
you're in town ( london
, that is) on the 25th of this month, resonancefm is proud to
announce the very
first london
appearance of thomas dimuzio,
performing with long-time collaborator (he himself playing here
for the first time in years) chris cutler. ben green, who curates the 'as'
program, will be djing, and all proceeds go to keeping us on the air,
so please come down! january 25th
at the spitz, 109 commercial street, e1.
